Community Connection Saves Lives
Here is where we come together to learn, walk, talk, and build hope together;
side by side.
At the KV Foundation for Mental Health, we believe that mental health belongs to all of us. Every conversation and shared story helps create a culture where connection is the first step towards healing.
In every way you show up to learning, listening or leading, your presence matters. Together, we are creating spaces where people feel seen, supported, and understood.
Be part of the movement to make mental health a shared connection.
Join our next event to connect with others and take steps for mental health.
Partner with us to collaborate on community programs and awareness initiatives.
Share your story to inspire others to speak up and seek connection.
Join us for Our KV Community Conversation Series: From Understanding Trauma to Finding Voice
This three part KV Community Conversations Series invites the community into a shared, human centered experience focused on understanding mental health, building common language, and turning insight into expression. The series moves away from deficit and diagnosis first narratives and centers regulation, connection, and growth. Participation is welcome without pressure to disclose or label personal experiences.
Important Note: This event is informational and educational only. It is not a therapy session. Mental health resources will be available for anyone seeking additional support.
March KV Community Conversation
March 15: Understanding Trauma, the Brain, and the Body
Featuring Sarah Livingston, LCSW, EMDR Certified Therapist at Ladder of Hope
This session builds shared understanding of trauma as a human experience, not a personal failure. Topics include what trauma is and what it is not, Adverse Childhood Experiences and cumulative harm, how stress impacts the developing brain, and why many trauma responses are adaptive. The conversation reframes symptoms from what is wrong with you to what happened to you, with a strong emphasis on safety, regulation, and protective factors. Registration opens February 15.

April Writing Experience
April 19: Writing as Regulation, Reflection, and Connection
Facilitated by Victoria Nordlund, Glastonbury Poet Laureate
This guided writing experience connects directly to the themes introduced in March. The session also includes gentle, guided journaling facilitated by Victoria Nordlund, introducing writing as an accessible, optional tool for reflection and grounding. Journaling is framed as a way to notice experience with curiosity and compassion, supporting regulation rather than disclosure or analysis.
May Community Showcase
May 17: Mental Health Awareness Month Celebration and KV Publication Launch
The series concludes with a community showcase celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month and the launch of a published KV community manuscript. This event honors voice, resilience, and collective wisdom. The publication is shared as a community artifact, not a collection of pain stories, and reflects care, consent, and strength based framing.
Participants may attend one, two, or all three events. No prior mental health knowledge or writing experience is required. Donations are welcomed and help the KV Foundation continue building spaces for community connection and mental health conversation.
