About Us

you good?

Our Story:
The KV Foundation was created in memory of Kevin Vigeant, a beloved resident of Glastonbury. Kevin was known for his kindness, warmth, and the joy he brought to others. Whether as a devoted husband, father, coach, or friend, Kevin’s legacy is one of compassion and support. It is through this spirit that The KV Foundation was born – with a deep commitment to raising awareness of mental health, reducing stigma, and helping those in crisis.
Our Mission:
The KV Foundation for Mental Health ("The Foundation") is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a threefold mission:
-
Raising awareness of mental health and reducing the stigma surrounding open discussions about mental health.
-
Partnering with the local community to improve understanding and accessibility of mental health resources for individuals in crisis.
-
Creating annual scholarships for students entering or currently enrolled in a master's degree program in mental health.
Our Future:
Mental health struggles are just as real and potentially as debilitating as physical health challenges, yet society's comfort level in discussing them often differs significantly. This can lead to delays in seeking the help needed for mental health issues. Our Foundation aims to change that by encouraging our local community to treat mental health with the same care and attention as physical health.
Our slogan, "You good?", serves as a simple, open-ended question that we hope will spark meaningful conversations between friends and loved ones. These conversations could lead to timely intervention and support from mental health professionals when needed. We understand that, unlike physical health services, accessing mental health care can be a more complicated and less immediate process.
To address this, the Foundation will partner with local businesses, schools, religious organizations, and community groups to raise awareness of vital resources like 988, the suicide and crisis hotline. Our goal is for these numbers to become as recognizable and accessible as 911.
Additionally, we will raise funds to establish a scholarship to encourage more community members to pursue careers in Licensed Clinical Social Work. We envision a future where professional help is readily available to anyone in need, whenever they need it.
